# Instrumentation quality

The Instrumentation quality tab in the services catalog shows how well each service is instrumented and identifies gaps that reduce the value you get from Application Observability.

## Columns

The instrumentation quality table displays the following columns:

| Column         | Description                                                                                                                                                                                 |
|----------------|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
| Insights       | Colored insight rings for the service.                                                                                                                                                      |
| Name           | The service name and namespace.                                                                                                                                                             |
| Quality        | A progress bar and rating (for example, “Very good”) indicating overall instrumentation completeness.                                                                                       |
| Failing checks | A summary of which checks are failing for the service (for example, “Service graph metrics presence +3”).                                                                                   |
| Quality report | A link to the service’s detailed [quality report](https://grafana.com/docs/grafana-cloud/observe-and-act/monitor-applications/application-observability-kg/service-detail/quality-report/). |

## Filter by check type

Use the left panel to filter services by specific failing checks:

- **Cardinality breach**: high-cardinality span names detected
- **K8s labels**: missing Kubernetes resource attributes
- **Mixed histograms**: inconsistent histogram types across sources
- **Service graph metrics presence**: service graph metrics not found
- **Service logs**: no logs correlated to the service
- **Service name**: issues with service naming (slashes or duplicates)
- **Service Profiles**: no profiling data found
- **Span metrics k8s labels presence**: span metrics missing K8s labels
- **Span metrics presence**: span metrics not found
- **Unique service source**: duplicate metrics from multiple sources

## Export data

Click **Download CSV** to export the instrumentation quality data for all services.
